Nigeria’s New Service Chiefs Didn’t Come to Play

Now, we’ve heard this kind of talk before, right? Every time new people take over, there’s always this hype “We’ll end insecurity,” “We’ll restore peace,” “We’ll handle bandits.” But the streets are watching this time. From kidnappings to insurgency to those random headlines that make you want to relocate to Canada, Nigerians are tired. Real tired.

Still, you can’t lie — there’s something about this new energy that gives small hope. Maybe it’s the confidence in their tone, maybe it’s just Nigerians’ endless ability to hope again. Either way, the vibes are cautiously optimistic.

Everyone’s praying these chiefs won’t just be all talk and press conferences. Because abeg, if we can go one week without hearing about bandits or attacks, that would be the kind of “rejig” the country actually needs.

It’s like Nigeria’s on a group project — and these service chiefs just joined the team as the new “serious students.” The assignment? Fix insecurity. The deadline? ASAP.

For now, let’s give them a chance. But if by December nothing’s shaking, trust Nigerians — we’ll be back on X (Twitter) with hashtags, memes, and plenty of dragging. Because as we always say, “We no dey too do like this — we just want peace.”
